If you’ve been itching to get your work read by thousands and want join a team of talented and passionate writers, then get in touch. Whilst we can’t offer money for your time we can offer editorial feedback on your work, contacts in the gaming world, occasional free stuff, access to cool events and great way to get your name out there.

We’re looking for not just staff writers interested in keeping our readers up to date with the latest news, but also columnists and editors. Once you join the team the positions are more guidelines than solid rules. If you’re a columnist or editor, for example, you’re welcome to write up news and reviews.

All we ask in return is that you care about the work your produce and that you have free time to contribute to the site multiple times per week.

I will use this pic as many times as I likeDo you suck? If yes, please stop reading.

NG is once again (or more accurately, still) looking for more people to join the ever growing team that keeps this place rolling. Specifically we’re looking for people who have time  to write three or four news posts throughout the week.

If you are fed up with the current online gaming media and their attention seeking articles, negligible effort and all around craptacular results, then step right up. This place has been growing fast over the past year and shows no sign of letting up. To keep the pace we’re going to need more writers.

If you can write, “get” what this place is about and have the time and passion, then please send in the following things; A brief paragraph or two about yourself and why we should hire you. Two sample news articles, the kind of which you would expect to write for us. Experience is not needed. Drop me an email at wardrox[art]negativegamer[durt]com with your samples and/or any questions you have.

All positions at NG are currently volunteer only, but I may let you borrow my jet from time to time.

Actual photo of real life

Hey, do you know how to use ctrl-c then ctrl-v? Do you play videogames and want free ones? Ever written a thing on an internet and thought it was good? Come write for us… if you think you’re right for us! Ha!

We here at Negative Gamer are striving for mediocrity. If you can re-word press releases, or find news a few days after it’s been on every other site and manage to not add anything to it, then get in touch! We’re looking for reviewers to get free games to write about the graphics, story and controls, finally settling on an 8/10 (7/10 if we didn’t get a free copy). We’re looking for opinion pieces that will be titled in a such a way as to get the maximum number of clicks and we’re also looking for girls, because then we can take pics of you and get traffic.

I'm the pink one

Negative Gamer has seen a lot of changes over the past six months and has grown considerably. We have an audience of thousands and are gaining real influence in the gaming communities and, arguably, within the gaming industry itself.

To help continue our goal of world domination segways for all, we are expanding out or family and looking for more writers. People with the same passion to make the gaming world better, more accountable and, well, less full of bullshit that this place has become known for.

A/S/L? We’re Looking For Writers!

I just thought this posted needed a picture. I don\'t think it matters what that picture is about.

If you’re thinking you might like to write for NG, please ask yourself the following questions;

  1. Can you write better than a 15 year old?
  2. Do you understand what makes Negative Gamer different to other blogs (if not, have a look around)?
  3. Are you awesome, or too awesome?
  4. Are you reliable, and do you think you can write on a roughly regular basis?
  5. Oh… do you want to write, right?
  6. Do you understand what these “ask yourself” things are about?

This place is growing. People are finding out that this is where all the cool kids hang out and so our readership and community is increasing in size daily.

As a contributor to Negative Gamer you will gain a number of things. Money isn’t one of them (yet), but what we lack in funds we make up for in other ways wink wink.

As a growing site we can offer a way to practice and improve your writing as well as exposure for your work and portfolio, contacts within the industry, free entry to events, possibly free copies of games (though I have no idea what publisher would send us free stuff), free cookies and the potential to be paid. It’s a long journey, but with the right people it’s easily possible (and fun).

As we grow we’re going to be needing more writers to keep the steady flow of quality content coming. There are a number of roles within the site, but these are more guidelines. The aim is to provide you as a writer with a very comfortable mix of stuff to write.

News Contributor

As a news contributor you would be expected to write around 3 or 4 posts per week. Your job would be to keep readers up to date with all the latest goings on in the wide world. News doesn’t have to be (and primarily shouldn’t be) big stories. A billion other sites can report on them, so unless you’re adding something of value to the article, not much point.

Feature Contributor

As well as news, Negative Gamer, as the name suggests, is big on opinion. It’s a place where you should be able to say whatever you want, and as long as you give the readers respect, you should get respect back. “I hate x” won’t be met with “STFU” here, but rather “why?”. Spark discussion not flame wars. The tricky part here is making sure what you say fit with the general voice of the site. “10 Reasons Halo is AWESOME”, for example, would be a bit of a faux par around these parts. Again, have a look around and work out if you’re voice could fit in.

So, if you answered yes to the first 5 questions (maybe I should have mentioned that bit first, oh well) and want to apply to write here, then send in a writing sample (blog posts are fine) as well as a bit of info about yourself. The kind of things we want to know are; your history with gaming, the roll you see yourself fitting, why you want to write for us and why we want you to. Also, we don’t really care if you have much experience, so don’t worry about that.

I can be found at the other end of wardrox AT gmail.com (feel free to add me to gtalk) and I look forward to talking to you.

Oh, one more thing; Everybody gets a free tiger.*

*you might not get a free tiger.
