Look at what you did! God damn pets! Pets!? And the real kick in the nuts is how these aren’t simply free throw-away extras; Microsoft actually expect people to pay £2 for these avatar accessories.
Microsoft’s strategy of “gamers buy the consoles then play sequels, tweens get whored for money and PR targets your Mum” really is grinding me the wrong way. I’m just about getting used to the idea of paying real money (that could otherwise be spent on rent, food or, god forbid, games) for virtual, ego-boosting t-shirts with brand name adverts on that you don’t own and only see in one of the worse user-interfaces ever designed. But this is just getting ridiculous.
For that many Microsoft “if it’s not real currency you won’t care” Points you could buy three full Xbox Indie Games. But who wants that when you can have a dog in a handbag that you can show your virtual friends? All this shows me is that Microsoft have got all the money they can out of my demographic and are moving on, and they don’t care who knows it.
Hi, I’m Bob Executive. Which way is Business?

In a move cementing Microsoft’s reputation as the Sony of this generation (pooping on their customers etc.) the company will be blocking any and all unauthorized Memory Units. This means you have to either not save any data, or use a Microsoft branded Memory Unit instead.
Remember when you could use any old pen drive to save your games on the 360? You know how Microsoft stopped that, then demanded you pay for their Microsoft branded Memory Units? This is about on par with that, only now they’re going after the reasonably priced yet unofficial memory units.

Bobby Kotick, president and CEO of Activision Blizzard, has been revealed to have earned almost $15million ($14 950 102 to be exact) during 2008. The details of Kotick’s earnings were posted by business website Forbes and gives a detailed breakdown of his income from 2008. Not only does it show his salary to be almost $900 000 but he also received a bonus of $5million and nearly $6million in option awards.
Kotick’s own comments on the ‘low’ price of games and Activision’s inexcusable price hike of Modern Warfare 2 really goes to show how greedy the company is. When a single person is earning this much and still wants to charge more for games, it really makes me question purchasing anything Activision put out.

You know the classic 70s shoot-rocks-and-occasionally-an-alien game? Well some bright spark has thought that it would be a good idea to make a movie out if it. A lesser writer would have just shot himself, blood and brains all over the monitor, but just for you I’ll continue. For those of you who haven’t played the game, it’s essentially a black screen and some white asteroids. And that’s it.
There’s no plot, story arc, protagonist, antagonist, hero, heroine, or badguy. Yet it is being made into a film. Mathew Lopez is set to write the story (!?!?!?!?) and Lorenzo di Bonaventura is set to produce. What make this even more funny is that 4, count ‘em, 4 studios were bidding to grab the licence, with Universal Pictures finally clinching it.

Gamestop continues to act upon it’s Napoleonic campaign for money and power by buying France’s leading game store chain, Micromania. In the midst of a financial disaster, Gamestop has decided to spend $700 million to make this move–$150 million of which is a loan from the Bank of America. Thank you Gamestop, for your contribution to our fucked up economy.
Gamestop is getting closer and closer to a monopoly every day and frankly, it’s frightening. Gamestop’s horrendous trade-in values, shady employees, and history of poorly ‘refurbished’ systems makes it a pretty sub-par company. Yet they still keep making money. The world is a screwed up place.
