Negative Gamer Mobile Lets You Access Negative Gamer From Your Mobile

Misc Tuesday, January 12th 2010

After demand from loyal readers that NG be made more mobile friendly, I am please to announce the introduction of Negative Gamer Mobile! NGM is built 100% for mobile devices and can be accessed by simply going to NegativeGamer.com from your phone/iPod/Japanese toilette.

The site should detect you are using something with a small screen and redirect you. If you want to view the original site, then just scroll to the bottom of the mobile version and there’s a link to the normal site.

There’s still a few kinks being worked out, but everything you want to do should be working fine. If you find any bugs then do let me know. I’m also very open to any feature additions that you want.

If you browse to NGM from an iPhone you should find iNegative Gamer. It’s identical to NGM save for a few iPod specific changes (like the name) and features that take advantage of the hardware.

I am liking the new iPhone friendly site. And saving the link to my phone homepage now has a shiny icon associated with it (resulting in instant promotion from the depths of my phone to almost the front page)

the only thing I’d say is lacking is the ability, when looking at an article, to navigate to the next or previous article. ATM I have to go back to the main page, scroll to the next article, open it, digest the wisdom withing, go back to the main page etc. Not really an issue but I’m lazy gods dammit so help me by reducing the number of clicks I need

Apart from that it’s looking cool. Cheers :-)

@ruanae: consider that fixed. Though let me know if it would be better to have just a “previous” and “next” link, if the lines of text are too faffy as links.

Love the mobile site, but unless, I’m missing something, there’s no link to the forums…

The mobile site also doesn’t show who wrote any given article.

@Naughton: The forum is designed for web use, and I don’t have the resources to re-code it to work with mobiles (yet). You can still get at it though, via the link at the bottom of every page that takes you to the full version of the site. If I get time then I’ll try and get a modified, mobile friendly forum up.

With author names, that’s well spotted and something I shall add when I next get a chance.
