EA Accidentally Give Games Away For Free

WhoopsUPDATE: Looks like EA have rectified the mistake made earlier today. The three games now come out at £14.99 total and it only took them seven hours to notice. Surely a company as big as EA can sort out such a damaging mistake quicker than this. Even when you look past the monetary losses (especially for a company as successful as EA) the embarrassment alone would be encouragement enough to get it sorted out as quick as humanly possible.

In regards to the money, I really do wonder how many people would have actually downloaded these games had it cost them a single penny. I’m wagering not very many at all. Unfortunately still no response direct from EA themselves, maybe they are just too embarrassed to comment.

Original Story:

Well it looks like someone at EA is going to be losing their job pretty sharpish. Seemingly by accident, EA have screwed up their online deals and become rather more generous than they intended.

If you live in the UK and add Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space and Mercenaries 2 to your cart on the official EA Store you can get them for the grand old price of diddly squat. The three games have been discounted from £14.99 to £4.99 but a previous deal is still active. The previous deal removes £14.99 from the price of the three games giving them the extremely appealing price of FREE.

Let’s be honest here, EA fail happens a lot, but rarely does it come in a form that can be appreciated by so many. I’m currently awaiting reply from EA to my email informing them of the situation, expect an update as soon as I hear anything.

Thanks to Wilbo for the tip.

Cool deal, but I don’t think it’s very classy to brag about.

    Thanks for the heads up.
I’ve already played Mirrors Edge through, but I’ll give Dead Space a shot.

Stuff like this used to happen at the Co-Op supermarket, with competing offers mixed with reductions, you end up getting money after buying stuff.

My friend bought 20 reduced pies and made £5.

    The wonders of retail

I’m downloading DS and M2 now.
It was completely worth it for the Mirrors Edge music pack you get with the game.
    I love that song.
