Prepare to have your Playstation 3 start bugging you to update it.
The new 3.00 firmware for the console has just recently gone live, and as usual it packs a few lackluster features that people will initially pretend to be excited about, before they go back to clamoring for cross-game voice chat.
I, for one, am especially excited about the glittery background the XMB has now. It reminds me of the glittery vampires in Twilight. Yes, I saw Twilight.
How about the “What’s New” section? That’s right! There is now an entire section on your PS3’s home screen dedicated to showing you what looks like the PS3 equivalent of Flash ads. At least in this case, you have to navigate to them specifically.
Some other new features listed are a renovated friends list, status indicator, and more places to click on the “Playstation Store” button so you can give Sony more money.
All in all, this seems like a solid update, which I personally can’t wait to go home and download. Viva la status indicator!
