Don’t Play BlazBlue, Buy Unlockables

test

BlazBlue has yet to be released, but that doesn’t stop DLC for it from coming out. 4 “Unlimited” variations of characters are available for 80 Microsoft Points ($1) each. However, I’m not sure who would pay for these, seeing how the description states that they are obtainable through simply playing the game.

I’m not sure which aspect to be more irritated with, the fact that the content is already out, or the fact that they’re charging for something already on the disc (obviously) that is obtainable by playing it normally anyway. I guess playing games these days is too much of a bother.

Whether or not the content is difficult to unlock, charging people for “easy” access is cheap. I’m surprised Namco Bandai aren’t publishing this.

    so so shitty, so wrong

I don’t exactly mind it. I mean companies have always had their own private hints and tips lines in the back of manuals with that wondefully shady atmosphere around it.

Not to say it’s good exactly, but I like the BlazBlue guys, and if people are stupid enough to give them more money for things they already have then I’m happy for them. Hell, if they were politicians they’d be elected right now.

    This does not surprise me.

The nerve! This is as bad as when people were paying for gamesharks to unlock content already on the disc! It’s reprehensible!

It’s depressing how stuff like this was unheard of a few years ago. Whilst stupid, this specific example isn’t damaging to the game p-er-say.I just worry about when shit like this becomes the norm for multiplayer games and RPGs.

It’s happening SO often with big-wig games like .skate and Burnout, it’s almost the norm. I’m very surprised Aksys resorted to this.

You have to remember that sometimes these downloads are made available for those who don’t have the time to unlock certain aspects. I’m sure that unlocking the “Unlimited” characters will require some time and skill.

It also helps those people who opt to buy it and then want to have some extras available when they buy it off the bat. Ever wish you could play as an unlockable character from the start, but had to wait till you beat the game with every character?

@Magnalon_Chris Carter: Oh lol, how misinformed you are. They released free updates and content for the entire year following its release. Finally one year later they’re releasing additional content for cheap.

If you’re going to give examples of extortion, at least use valid ones such as Battlefield: Bad Company.

Anyway, I really couldn’t care less that they’re doing this because of a few reasons:
    1. They mention its obtainable by just playing the game normally.
    2. Its really not an advantage in any sense.
    3. Aksys -deserves- the money from any moron willing to buy this shit.

In this case, I say let them make a few bucks off some imbeciles.

it’s nothing new. ea’s been letting you buy stuff for a long time. latest example off the top of my head is skate 2. time is money pack costs 400 points and unlocks all spots and skaters. if you don’t want to work at it and have the extra cash, then go for it. personally, i feel even better when i get something that someone else actually paid money for through putting in my time, but that’s just me.

If you’re familiar with fighting game communities and pro players, this isn’t too shocking. None of the BlazBlue or Guilty Gear fans appear to be angry about this at all.

It’s for pro players that don’t care about anything outside of competetive play and don’t want to play through the various branching story mode paths to unlock the boss versions of these four characters.

Let’s just hope this trend doesn’t catch on in other genres =\

well a great example of this was the last katamari game. To think that people would be stupid enough to buy this type of dlc makes me sick. I really want to know how much the companies actually make off this on disc dlc.

I can unlock them in the game lol:D

umm Unlimated versions can be unlocked by beating arcade.

    @Anonymous:

If you’re a pro or high end player, beating the game on hell shouldn’t be a difficulty to you. Not in the slightest.
